Summer Camps
Camp Olmstead in Goshen, VA – July 8 – 14, 2012
A $100 deposit is due on February 22 for the Troop’s fantastic summer camp which will be at Goshen this year, July 8-14, 2012. The total cost is $285/$230 (youth/adult), plus $40 for bus fare. To reserve your spot at Goshen this summer, please give Mr. Monaco a check for $100(payable to Troop 160) by February 22. Also, please drop off the medical form with your pediatrician asap.
Merit Badges Offered at Goshen:
Aquatics: Canoeing, Rowing, Kayaking, Swimming*, Lifesaving*, BSA Lifeguard (min. 15 years old), and Sailing (min. 13 years old). Scoutcraft: Orienteering, Camping*, Wilderness Survival, Emergency Preparedness*, Indian Lore Pioneering, Hiking*, Backpacking, Fishing, and Citizenship in the World*. Technology Center: Aviation, Astronomy, Electricity, Energy, Engineering, Computers, Electronics, and Journalism. Shooting Sports: Rifle, Archery, and Shotgun. Handicraft: Leatherwork, Basketry, Textile, Woodcarving
Summer Camp at Claytor Lake – July 1 – 7, 2012
The Troop and Venture Crew are scheduled to send a group of boy scouts to Claytor Lake on July 1 – 7, 2012. The program cost is $310 (plus incidentals). There are additional charges for wake boarding and the jet skis. All participants must pass BSA swim test.
Merit badges offered at Claytor Lake
Motorboating: Small Boat Sailing, Water Sports, Large Boat Sailing; Swimming*, Lifesaving*, Canoeing, Fishing, Personal
Watercraft, Climbing, Rowing, (conducted in Olympic-style slide rowing shells) plus Snorkeling and Kayaking certifications.
Age requirements (by Sept 2012) is 13 for Claytor Lake and age 14 for wakeboarding and jet skiing. The Payment schedule is as follows: $100 payment/participant due Feb 1, 2012. $100 payment/participant due April 1, 2012. Final payments due June 1, 2012.
