Heading to Philmont 25 July – 6 August 2012
We’re happy to announce that 160 was once again chosen to form a patrol that will go on a high adventure expedition at Philmont Scout Ranch. Philmont has been called a “Wilderness Adventure That Lasts a Lifetime” and is known worldwide as one of the highlights of the Boy Scout experience. It includes 12 days of backcountry hiking through the beautiful, thrilling Sangre de Christo mountain range in New Mexico.
The trip is scheduled for JULY 25 – AUGUST 6, 2012 (with the possibility of additional travel on either side).
Participants must be a member of Venture Crew 160 before the trip date. This is a very demanding hike, and Philmont sets strict weight, height, and fitness requirements for this adventure. It is limited to adults, and Scouts 14 years of age by the trip date (OR those who have completed the eighth grade and are at least 13 prior to participation). In addition, this outing will require extensive planning and advance fitness training, as well as a not-insignificant dollar investment.
